Embrace the Sissiness.

I loved this picture when I saw it, and I had a caption in mind almost immediately.  Which is good -- I didn't have a lot of time to do this one (busy day today).

Sometimes, you have to think outside of the box.

I've had this picture for a few weeks now, but I never got around to modifying it.  I knew it would be time consuming (and a little tedious), so I kept putting it off.  I had a good idea of what sort of caption I wanted to write for it, though, and I knew that caption would be very, very good.  So, I had a couple of free hours today, and I decided to make it happen.

I'm very glad that I did, as the picture and caption turned out far better than I could have hoped.  Here it is:

Stray Thoughts

I wanted to make a quick post to talk about some stuff that's been on my mind lately.

First, I can't say how much some of your reviews/comments mean to me.  I've always done these captions and stories because I enjoy making them, but when people talk about how these stories actually affected them, it makes it so much better.  I won't single any of them out or anything, but it does make writing so much easier when people become emotionally attached to my characters.  It's what I'm usually going for, but to hear (or read) about it in a review is, for lack of a better word, awesome.

Second, I've hit a milestone over on Imagefap -- 200 fans.  And I'm closing in on 100 here and over on OBU. I know there's some overlap, but that my work is reaching so many people is really gratifying.

It's funny.  The captions I write specifically for Imagefap are really, really niche.  I don't expect everyone to get into that sort of thing (I know I have some weird kinks).  That said, I'm very, very proud of some of the photo modifications I've done for those captions.  I think it's because I do those in batches of 10-15 images, and I kind of get into a groove.  Anyway, if you haven't checked out some of my later galleries (the first few aren't anything to write home about), I heartily recommend that you do so.

And finally, I wanted to talk a little about backgrounds.  If you're not interested in captioning yourself, go ahead and quit reading.  If you are, read on!

I think that the backgrounds are neglected in most captions.  Does it work sometimes?  Yes.  But I think a good, solid backgrounds makes the caption really pop.  So if you're a captioner, please take a few minutes and make a decent background.  Your work will look so much better.

Anyway, I just had a few thoughts I wanted to share with you all.  Thanks for reading.

A Donation Button

Some of you may have noticed a "Donation" button popping up from time to time on this site today.  I apologize if it distracted you.  I was toying with the idea of giving you all the opportunity to donate to my "Photoshop" fund (I want to upgrade, but I'm not shelling out that kind of money right now).  I had noticed that a lot of other blogs have those donation buttons, so I decided to give it a shot.  I even got so far as to put the fully functional button on the site...for like 5 minutes.  I started to make a post explaining what it was, and what not, but I only got a paragraph in before I decided to remove the whole thing.

Why?  I'm not sure, to be honest.  It seems perfectly reasonable to give you all the opportunity to donate (I've donated to other sites myself, so I'm definitely not against it.), but, I don't know.  I just wasn't comfortable with it.

So, I guess I'll just rely on you all to buy the "Warrior Reborn" novel (and any subsequent short story compilations I write/publish) to support my captioning habit.

Anyway, those are my thoughts on the matter.

Poll Results

The results of the poll are as follows:

A Warrior Reborn:  8 votes
The Black Witch: 5 votes
Wide Right: 2 votes
Gene: 20 votes
Just a Joke: 5 votes
An OBU Story: 13 votes
None: 11 votes

This surprised me a little, I'll admit.  I didn't consider Gene my best story, but obviously many of you do.  Any of you who voted on a story, feel free to let me know what, in particular, made you vote that way.

In other news, I'm shooting for a 11/15 release for my "Warrior Reborn" novel, which will include the first two parts (which are already available for free) as well as about 30-40 more pages which will conclude the story.  I still haven't decided on a price, but I think I'll be releasing it on as many formats as possible (for .99 to 2.99 -- I'm not sure on price yet).

I hope you'll all support it when it comes out.

Graduation is on the Horizon

Every now and then, I come across a photo I just can't get right.  That's what happened with this picture (which I've been working on for a few days off and on).  Nothing seemed to click on it.  The angles were wrong.  The shadowing was problematic.  I almost just deleted it in disgust.  The only reason I didn't is because I had a great caption planned for it.

I'm glad that I didn't abandon it.  The picture isn't perfect (I'm still not super happy with it), but I think it's serviceable.  And I really like the caption/picture combination.  I've said before that I like the idea of a fraternity feminizing some pledges, but I'd like to a little further than that.

First, I'm sure you've all noticed that I like the idea of these sissies being accepted socially and culturally.  Many of my captions (the Omar Bell Universe, role reversal, etc.) focus on the inner struggle for these boys rather than some outside influence telling them that what they are is wrong.  I know why I like this idea.  Inner struggle is far more interesting (and inescapable) than a person trying to adhere to cultural norms.  If (in these alternate realities) a sissy is accepted, the only real thing holding them back (or propelling them down any particular road) is their own feelings.  And I like to explore that.  In addition, I wish everyone was accepted for who they are.  I know it's a pipe dream; prejudice and bigotry aren't going anywhere.  But they're my captions, and I'll see the worlds through rose-colored glasses if I want to.

Second, I like that everyone gets something.  The sissies get a leg up in terms of networking and job prospects.  The fraternity brothers get, well, the sissies.  And it's all consensual.  I like that they make the choice, and reap the benefits of that decision.

I know you're probably tired of reading this, and I'm probably rambling so I'll just cut this off here.

Occupy Feminization Station

I know that the recession is on everyone's minds these days.  A lot of good people have lost jobs they depended on, and some have even been screwed out of the retirement they were told was fool-proof.  I won't pretend to know the ins and outs of how it's done, but I do know that there is a lot of bitterness out there (and most of its warranted).

But this isn't a political blog, and I certainly won't run around yelling about this issue or that.  I will, however, make a caption about some wronged employees who get back at a CEO in a very novel (and probably predictable for this site) way.

Anyway, here's the (kind of long) caption.
